like the old one, except that the trim on the door, which used to be body
color, is now aluminum.
Mechanically,
everything is the same, except that the High Torque ECU, (for which I paid
$500 to upgrade), is now standard equipment. All in all, after 25 years,
the Esprit has finally evolved into a "Complete World Class" sport car.
Arnie
Johnson, the Grand Wazoo of LCU was there with all of his boys. Clyde Shepard,
Roger Becker, and of course Dave Simkin.
It
has been at least 10 years since I've seen Arnie, and he looked Great.
I guess that the Lotus business keeps you young.
Arnie,
who was very generous and kind with me, said that he would help me with
some personal issues about my car. And ALL of the other guys gave me advice,
and said that they would help me in any way that they could, to make my
Lotus driving experience, the best that it can be.
I
have never seen a company that was so helpful to ALL of its' users. The
older cars given as much attention, as the newer ones. We are lucky to
have them.
There
were two NEW Elises. One Lazer Blue, and one Lightning Yellow.
They were in full trim; Leather, AC., Stereo, etc. Everything (except
a hardtop), for about $38,500. As far as engine, Arnie said
that it would be a different one; 4 cylinders, and as "fast" as the European
version. Then, breaking out in a big smile, he whispered, "maybe
faster".
I
sat in the car, and it felt wonderful. A great driving position,
everything looked "right" from that seat. A real

| I've
always had an "attitude" about the L.A. Auto show. The reason:
Detroit always seemed to get the "good" cars, and L.A. would get the left
overs.
NOT THIS YEAR ! L.A. got Lotus, in a big way.

! The front end (With the extra 350 lip), finally looks complete.
The new Tail - lights, (the same ones that are on the new Elise) fit like
a glove, and look very natural. The new exhaust also looks great, and is
supposed to sound "better, ie. more exotic", then the old one. The "new"
